My pages, for loading time, are kind of slow on the loading time for their size. Mainly because of the load on fortunecity's servers and secondly because the of the coding of my pages. I'm using layers now and the main page uses 3 layers and most of the others use 1, the layers do cause the pages to load slower and slower as you get lower on the browser version number(5x IE loads them faster than 4x IE). But they, layers, enable more control over ads, postions and lots more. Just got back from the beach. Will update some content on the 6.20.99 and update the site on 7.1.99.

i've tried several diffrent ways to control the look of my site and i think i've found the ticket. Layers! Frames couldn't do it , couldn't get CSS to work, although several people have told CSS can, just that my server won't allow such things. I already found quirks i don't like about layers, but it's made the layout of the main page easier to work with. I was using tables to control the look, but there some things you can't do with table that you can with layers that make sure the look is the same in N and IE.

Fortunecity seems to have quit auto adding the ads all the time now. Don't have a clue why. Redid the navbar stuff and added some more areas crap. Should get some imaging software back on my computer soon and have some decent 'main' directories graphics and i believe i'm going to go to frames. As much as i hate them. They work wonders in some areas. CSS just won't ( i can't get it) to work properly with multiple CSS files in the same files as i've been doing and I looking for a good way to display ads. Which works with an empty table in a page, but it's just one more thing that is telling me to go to frames.

Sorry about all the ads, but fortunecity has changed the update setting on pages on there site. So instead of having to update every two weeks so that ads aren't put on my pages it' s now at 3 days. So. I upadate my pages every week or so. Ads will be on the pages 4 out of 7 days a week if I keep that update schedual. I looking at freeyellow.com which i'm sure isn't as good as fortunecity, because some times you can just tell my going to a site and notice the page and linking scheme whether there using a unix/linux server or NT4 and i'd put money on them using NT4. Got a account there will have to check it out in a day or two. updated the following pages: links, programs, morelinks(killed), news, main index, and bookstore. that's it.

it's 4:30 a.m. Just uploaded some changes to the page, but you can't see them because fortunecity is down right now, well they've been down all day long. Count down to red hat linux is estimated at 6 days for my old systems. i'm happy what about you? well it's 4:30 am and i'm not going to sleep, here in a bit i'm leaving and am going to read on one of books i'm currently devouring. I ran across a weird site today. quite weird i was looking at distributed.net stats and click on wondered over to the web cam section, and then started clicking and looking at all the diffrent web cams. Which I then ended up at iloveholly.com , which is for some reason i found really interesting. Basically the site is ran by holly, who has a web cam or two, and injoys playing with them while she's nude. I can see how this could be a fun thing to do, but it, for me, would get old after a while. Her site even has a member section, she sells cd's and she plays with the cams daily. Just seems to me like that is her whole life, playing with the cams. just seems odd to me. She's married too, like to hear how her husband likes this setup. her whole life on camera. Anyway go to the site and support the porn industry. even if it's small business porn.

the main page still isn't were i'd like it to be right now. All other pages have been changed and now are governed by the same set of rules. As in the master CSS file is applied to all these pages, all pages have the same look and feel. Updated the monthly stats. I was also hoping that the advertising i had implemented and affiliate programs would bring in enough money to pay for a real server location for this site, but by the looks of the ad and affiliate programs stats sheet, looks other wise.

changed the look of the main page. Added a lot of NAV images and am going to put up the new stats and have all the L2 series of pages looking proper on tomarrow's update. Having to resort to coping the CSS info into every file instead of linking or importing because it doesn't want to work. I have it working fine on my local harddrive. I have a drive just for website i maintain. I uploaded the entire hard drive to this fortunecity server and then i didn't it again at another server i have space on and it just won't work. I don't get it. I'm just using IE to view my page on my harddrive and just using IE on the net and the files are the same and in the same locations on both sites. ?!? So I'll have to insert the CSS into every page. I'm wanting to have a main page that looks decent, but I just don't, so i'm looking into going all out java crazy instead of the little bit a have here and there. I don't do any rollovers or anything like that. But i'm working on it.

While uploading the files in the /L2 directory fortunecity's servers messed up the transfer and reset the data of all the files to nothing. That's why links some links haven't been working. I've been playing with lunix and didn't know about the problem for a while and when i found out i was with out computer so to say. Forgot about cleaning my master boot record before install my win98 back, so needless to say i couldn't boot to C:, but instead it tried to run Lilo boot for lunix. Changed the table sizes of the main page. Will be updating again at 5.1.99 and will(should) have the CSS changed so that i don't have to use linking and regular html to get colors and fonts. I'll be imbeding my CSS to each page.

Fixing bugs with the CSS code and the HTML code. after 2 days finally figured out why my web editor, dreamweaver 2.01, can't understand some of the CSS code/commands. Ended up rewriting my main page around 6 times to get it right. Also made the main page, well the main table center in the client screen, which almost works right. there is so much horizontal space to the left of the table by diffrent browsers so it'll look a little diffrent in diffrent browsers. Add a slew of links which are cool sighting's if you didn't already know. If your monitor resolution is 800x600 please inform me of any horizontal scrollbars on any of my pages. found that I had the main page just a little too wide. it was at over 800 wide, shrank it alittle so there shouldn't me anymore of those nasty scrollbars, but who knows. Next update is the 5/1/99.

Site redesign. says it all. when from the black backdrop to the current yellowish color. The fonts size, type, color, and link color are diffrent. Took over two hours of work, but I got all the code cleaned up, implimented CSS, changed the look of the site. Hit 1000 hits earlier today. Took, can't get into my stats databank right now, but it's somewere between 3 to 4 months. At 3 months(75 days), thats 13.3 hits per day; and at 4 months(106 days) thats 9.4 hits per day. I belive it's been a little over 3 months, so that should put it in the 13 to 12 range. I have several new pages that i'm not going to upload till the end of the month. I think around 7 new pages that i'm going to wait to work in till i do the monthly update. Is the font to small? I think i might need to enlarge it a little. After all this time clean up the html, i realized how much i love notepad. How great and simple it is. How clean your code is with it, and how nasty it is with dreamweaver. Wrote most all of these pages in dreamweaver, then whent back with notepad and cleaned it up. I'll have the stats on the upload time saved by going to CSS up with the end of the month update. All the code for CSS base then a little html touch up looks/works fine on all the pages except the main page (index.html). I know i couldn't of saved any upload time on this one. It has three CSS style embeded and then the regular html is there how it was before. I need to really rewrite the whole page from cratch, cause it will be shorter than fixing it with notepad. Now I'm getting ready to reformat both my computers that i use and install either win98 back on my new one or nt4 and install redhat 5.2 linux on my old p166( with is just used for distributed computing). Then I have a couple of older units sitting here i'm either going to fix here in the next week or ditch.

back from the beach. got burned!!! But I had some fun, it was the spring break time of year. Still playing with the CSS for the site. and still working on legend colors. Haven't looked in any of the net archives yet for any. if anybody has any i'd love to get some. don't want to exert myself with a search or anything like that now. added: chatroom and message board (must be a delphi member to use. if your not a memeber it take 2 minutes to register with them. oh, yea it's free). still haven't hit the goal of 1000 hits. But getting really close. Off by like 20 or so now.

Still need some more metalica links (see 3/22/99 stats) and I need some more feedback from people viewing this page at 800x600 resolution. I'm going to the beach for a week in a week or so. So the site will be getting an update right before I leave. Should be adding some blackjack and casino related material. Some book reviews and some more amazon stuff. remember i need your feed back and links. I'll also be archiving some of the news so that the page is smaller.

*s looking at stats for my page. At this rate it'll hit 1000 hits in about 24 days or so. I love the growth rate, just need to get some more stuff up. I'll be adding legend and some link graphics to make sure people know if the link is internal or external of my site and also if it's will lanch in the same browser or open a new one. Going to be adding a hugh link to jen's and ari's page soon, cause i just love there pages. They can over do the java sometimes, but all and all there page are great. Can't forget alli, will be adding a big link to her too.

Updated some stuff here and there. Haven't done much to it. Changed the font colors and cleaned up some html code on the main page. (getting rid of redundent font= tags.[loads faster]formatting some rants and poems (others work) to put up on the page and thinking about including a script page. Added stats page and added meta tags to index.html. Three updates today.... hoping to get 1000 hits by the end of April. Working on selling concert tickets off my site. Should either be selling or not selling with in a week. Looked at webjump website service, they do offer CGI and Peral and will be offering SSI soon, but i've heard nothing but bad things about them. too bad.

Added a poll from freepoll.com to my page. Can't use SSI, ESSI or CGI so this is a simple little alternative for the momment. Later on today, added another poll, guestbook and another counter.

Looking for new web host. Fortunecity is nice, but I want to use SSI and ESSI and CGI and they won't let me so. so good bye. looking at Cascading Style sheets and java to make the page look more uniform and flow better. If anybody know of a webhost place that allowers user to use CGI, SSI and ESSI and is free then make sure to drop me a line.

The disapointment is setting in. *frown* Just uploaded some SSI and found out fortunecity won't parse it through there server, which means I can't use it. I'm stuck to using the two little date and time functions they do allow. Which suck and I don't know if I can change the way they look or not. I can't run any CGI scripts here* frown*( *punches wall*). So I can do much dynamically from a fortunecity page; could from geocities. And they, fortuecity, do have advertising that I'll have to put on every page of my site. <g> we'll just have to see about that. damn.. I thought I was going to have more control here.

Pages have been indexed with some search engines, moved all the graphics to a central storage file and changed all the links in the html files. This shouldn't affect the pages browsing speed much, might make them a little faster. Added a web-design page and cleaned up the main page. Took care of horizontal scroll bar showing up in IE. Getting ready to upload "I've moved message' to all geo pages.

Updated my geocities site so that everybody going there, well at least from the main page know that I've moved. I'm going to redo the rest of the pages to include the 'I've moved message' too. Getting ready to upload the pages I just changed/ created and to index these pages with some search engines and to adjust my counter to point to my main page at the fortunecity servers instead of geocites.

Just got everything put up on the fortuencity servers and checked the links. Adjusted the absolute links and made sure the relative links work. I also made a test page, which has some hotmedia on it and some SSI (server side includes). Neither of which are working properly right now. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong with the reference link in the hotmedia. I can get them right if I store the hotmedia *.mvr file and the HM.cab, HM.zip, and HM3x.zip in the location of the html file that is using it, but I can't get it to work from outside of that location. Just need to figure out the relative URL.
